Photography

Capturing images through photography is something I have done primarily as a hobby to mark time and place.  Through two very different series in my ongoing collection, I have built groupings that both can be defined by place.  Someday, these projects may find a home or location to come to light.  For now, I just keep collecting.  I don’t claim to be a pro, but the drive to gather and curate, to tell a story, and to bring to light the minutia that is often overlooked keep me on this quest.

Market Textures

Market Textures is a collection of photography from public markets throughout the world. I love capturing the textures of products that make the market what it is. These textures often are defined by place. Presented as a texture it removes the viewers experience and highlights the abundance to be found in a particular location.

Shelter

Shelter is a collection comprised of images of the anonymous found structures built at play. Found on beaches worldwide, it is a phenomenon that crosses cultures. Given time and the limited materials found on location everyone will tend towards building shelter. It always brings me some joy to find a structure of stacked logs or branch thatching as proof that the old and even the very young have the inspiration to build shelter. Often found in public spaces where these structures will change over seasons, it is fun to watch them evolve. To build a fort is one of my earliest childhood passions and I am still fascinated by building today. I would love to combine this collection of photos with an installation of drift logs to build your own!
